Student Screening for Social Skills group:
As part of the individual screening process, your child’s teacher will complete the Social Skills Improvement System Rating Scale which provides a brief assessment of problem behaviors that may interfere with a student’s ability to acquire and perform social skills. This screening information will be used along with other data from teachers to determine whether your child is eligible for inclusion to our social skills group. If your child is invited to this social skills group we will send you a permission slip for you to decide if you want your child to be included.
.
I facilitate weekly groups that focus on social skills and anger management skills.
Social Skills
FRIENDSHIP Group: This weekly group is made up of kids, who need an extra assistance in connecting with peers, teachers, and their school environment, and role model peers. Using the SSIS (Social Skills Improvement System) Classwide Intervention Program) * we teach and practice five prosocial behaviour areas: (a) Cooperation, (b) Assertion, (C) Responsibility, (d) Empathy, and (E) Self-Control. |
Anger Management
SECOND STEP Group: The award-winning SECOND STEP violence prevention program integrates academics with social and emotional learning. Kids from preschool through Grade 8 learn and practice vital social skills, such as empathy, emotion management, problem solving, and cooperation. These essential life skills help students in the classroom, on the playground, and at home. |
